I was in the MPYO from the year 2016 to 2019. Despite being a wind instrument technician already by that time, I was also an active member of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO).

This flute workshop for the new flute members was initiated by my former teacher and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra’s Principal Piccolo – Sonia Croucher. 

Firstly, understanding the anatomy of flutes, names of each key, and simple tools to work with, such as cotton buds, toothpicks, cosmetic brushes and more.  

Using a tiny screwdriver to work on some key balancing, and knowing what house-tools you may use to align keys to eliminate air leaks. 

It was a short 1 hour virtual workshop, and it is my pleasure to share my knowledge with my fellow friends and flute colleagues.
